Dialogisk læsning er en omhyggeligt forberedt pædagogisk aktivitet og et rigtig godt redskab i det sprogpædagogiske arbejde. Der er forskningsmæssigt belæg for, at oplæsning af billedbøger efter metoden bidrager til børns sproglige udvikling, deres koncentrationsevne, deres erfaring med og viden om skriftsproget samt deres senere lyst til at læse.

Annoying Danish Relatives: Comprehension and production of relative clauses by children with and without SLI

This study examines the comprehension and production of subject and object relative clauses (SRCs, ORCs) by children with Specific Language Impairment (SLI) and their typically developing (TD) peers. The purpose is to investigate whether relative clauses are problematic for Danish children with SLI and to compare errors with those produced by TD children.

The study described in this article supports the view that children bring to the language learning task prior experience of the social usage of everyday objects and may rely on this experience in acquiring the categories and meanings conveyed by language. It also supports the view that language structure is an important influential factor in learning a language.

Our aim in this article is to argue that an adequate account of semantic development in early first language acquisition requires a theory and methodology that synthesize the insights of cognitive and cultural linguistics with a Vygotskian socio-cultural approach to human development. This involves recasting and extending the notion of Embodiment, which is a central philosophical underpinning of cognitive linguistics. We discuss evidence from the cross-linguistic and cross-cultural study of spatial semantic development, and argue that current controversies regarding language-specific acquisition strategies and universal cognitive bases of semantic development may best be resolved by viewing the issue of “linguistic relativity” in a socio-cultural, as well as a grammatical, perspective.

Sixteen 4 to 6-year-old Danish children were video-recorded, while interacting spontaneously with their family in their homes. The mental state talk of the children was identified and analysed with respect to three mental domains: desire, feeling and cognition, and was compared to data from a similar study carried out with Canadian families (Jenkins et al., 2003). Our results suggest some cross-cultural differences in children’s mental state talk. First, Danish children produce a larger variation of mental state talk words than Canadian children do, and second, the distribution of mental state talk across the three domains differed for the two language groups. Semantic variation between Danish and English was identified in the study, which may partly explain the findings. Furthermore we present a usage-based approach to the investigation of children’s development of psychological categories in language as well as cross-linguistically.

For de fleste danske børn går udviklingen af sprog og generelle kommunikative færdigheder let. Hos nogle børn forløber den sproglige udvikling dog langsomt, eller tilegnelsen af vigtige sproglige færdigheder udebliver helt.

Februar 2008 indledtes et treårigt ph.d.-projekt med formålet at kortlægge den atypiske udvikling af sproglige færdigheder hos danske børn. Undersøgelsens foreløbige resultater indikerer at problemer med arbejdshukommelsen og begrænsninger i evnen til at procecere forværrer situationen for gruppen af børn med atypiske sprogudvikling. Måske er disse vanskeligheder endda nogle af de bagvedliggende årsager til forstyrrelsen i sprogudviklingen.

I artikelen præsenteres de første data fra pilotversionen af TROG-2dk (TROG:Test for Reception of Grammar), som er en modificeret dansk udgave af Dorothy Bishops receptive grammatiske test (version 2). Artiklen indeholder data fra 102 normalt udviklende skolebørn i alderen 8 til 13 år, og resultaterne peger på, at testen er valid og pålidelig som test materiale til at undersøge udviklingen i danske skolebørns grammatiske forståelse.

Specifik sprogforstyrrelse - en comorbid forstyrrelse ved ADHD

Til trods for at danske børn med ADHD får kvalificeret klinisk udredning og intervention, synes den mangelfuld, fordi den ikke inkluderer en udredning for, om barnet har kommunikative vanskeligheder såsom specifik sprogforstyrrelse.
